THE WOMAN BEHIND THE CHAIR
Born and raised in Alaska, Alexis is a outlier among stylists. After receiving a Bachelors of Art in Painting from The Colorado College she moved to Hollywood and attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy where she worked closely with their creative team. She then trained under Myna Marin at Silverlake's MoDem Salon where she built a fierce and diverse Eastsider clientele of indie-rockers, architects, designers, novelists and philanthropists. During this time she worked as a Technical Specialist for Wella, teaching color to professional colorists. A call from the Chris McMillian Salon and an offer from colorist Johnny Ramirez for advanced training brought Alexis into the fray of top tier hairdressers. After working as a cutter for Helmet Salon West Hollywood where she gained a reputation as a fixer, she joined José Eber's team in Beverly Hills working as a stylist and in-house educator for Phyto.
In spring of 2012 Alexis Roberts Keiner opened The Nerrivik Studio, a 100 square foot Micro-Salon in the heart of Beverly Hills. She had a different vision for her clients. "The nature of the work as a hairdresser is so personal. I jumped on the opportunity to have a space to see my clients without distractions or the intimidation that invariably and unavoidably comes with large, high-end salons. In short, The Nerrivik Studio offers clients the one on one attention and privacy a large salon cannot."
Her easy approach toward cuts and styling with a firm belief that "the haircut should do the work for you" has brought clients from far and wide to see Alexis. She works with each client to achieve an evolving look that suits the personal look, hair texture, and lifestyle of the client. Her clientele continues to flourish with not only Eastside loyalists, but with some of entertainments top names and up-and-comers.
Alexis' talent has taken her on set with editorial heavyweights such as Didier Malige and Charlie Taylor for clients such as Cover Girl and Armani Fragrance.
Her empathy for others has lead to her work extensively with clients experiencing hair loss during and after cancer treatment as well as working with clients suffering from postpartum hair loss, trichotillomania (TTM) and telegen efflivium.
In addition to her work in the salon, Alexis currently works with Stanford Medicine X as an ePatient faculty member and is a MFA candidate at San Francisco State University. She frequently speaks on panels and to groups about ways to support grieving families.
